FC Barcelona has confirmed this Friday a piece of news that will delight many culé supporters: Marc-André ter Stegen has officially regained the captain’s armband of the first team.
In a statement, the club explained that the German goalkeeper has given his authorization to the medical staff to forward to LaLiga the medical report required following his recent surgery. This administrative step, necessary to close a case opened in recent months, marks the end of any disciplinary proceedings against him.
“The disciplinary case is considered closed, and the player regains the captain’s armband of the first team with immediate effect,” the official statement read.
A Symbolic Return
Injured and operated on a few months ago, Ter Stegen had temporarily lost the armband in a context involving both his absence from the pitch and internal regulatory procedures. His return to this leadership role not only reflects the club’s renewed confidence in him but also underlines his importance within the Catalan dressing room.
Ter Stegen, a Pillar and a Leader
Since joining Barça in 2014, the German international has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, as well as a key figure in the squad. His professionalism, consistency, and commitment to the club have earned him the respect of both teammates and supporters alike.
With the armband back on his arm, Ter Stegen will now be tasked with leading his teammates on and off the pitch, as Barça continues its fight for domestic and European glory.
