Heung-min Son, the winger and captain of Tottenham, recently shared his thoughts on the players he enjoys watching the most right now. Among them are some of the best talents in world football: Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Lamine Yamal.

During an exchange with a journalist, Son was also asked about the current level of Barcelona’s young prodigy, Lamine Yamal. And his response speaks volumes about the esteem he holds for the Spanish player.

Lamine Yamal already among the world’s elite?

The journalist first asked if Yamal was among the top 20 wingers in the world, to which Son responded without hesitation:

🗣️ “Yes!”

Then, he followed up by asking Son about a possible place in the top 10.

🗣️ “Yes!”

And in the top 5?

🗣️ “Yes!”

Finally, the ultimate question: Is Lamine Yamal in the top 3 of the best wingers right now?

🗣️ “No! But don’t get me wrong. He is an incredible player; at his age, the way he plays is impressive. I enjoy watching every one of his matches. He still has room for improvement. In a few years, he will be number one.”

A bright future for Yamal

Son’s words reflect the recognition of the new generation by already established players. At just 16 years old, Lamine Yamal is already making a strong impression on the international stage and at his club. While he may not yet be in the top 3 best wingers according to Son, there is no doubt that the future belongs to him.

The coming years will be crucial to see if the FC Barcelona gem can fulfill the South Korean star’s predictions and reach the pinnacle of world football.
