The prestigious Spanish club Real Madrid has announced an exceptional initiative in the United States: a series of trials open to 1,250 young players aged 18 to 19, aimed at discovering the football stars of tomorrow. These trials are part of the “Abbott Dream Team” program, a collaboration between Real Madrid and the American healthcare company Abbott, and could give selected players a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience elite football at the highest level.

A Tour Across Five Major U.S. Cities

The trials will take place in five U.S. cities from June to July 2025. Each stop will welcome hundreds of young footballers dreaming of joining one of the world’s greatest clubs:

  • Dallas, Texas – June 17, 2025
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – June 25, 2025
  • Washington, D.C. – July 10, 2025
  • Chicago, Illinois – July 17, 2025
  • Los Angeles, California – July 24, 2025

A Highly Competitive Selection Process

The competition will be fierce. The trials are expected to be very intensive, testing the players’ technical, physical, and mental abilities. Although some have compared the selection to a “Hunger Games of football,” this is simply a metaphor to highlight how challenging the process will be.

11 Players Will Be Chosen for the “Abbott Dream Team”

At the end of the trials, 11 players will be selected to form the Abbott Dream Team. These talented young athletes will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to Madrid, where they will:

  • Train at Real Madrid’s official facilities,
  • Work with the club’s professional coaches,
  • Attend a match at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium,
  • Participate in educational sessions on sports nutrition and performance with Abbott experts.

Mentorship from Clint Dempsey

Former U.S. international star Clint Dempsey will act as a mentor throughout the program. He will offer guidance and share valuable insights from his own professional journey.

A Human and Educational Mission

This talent scouting initiative also supports a broader purpose. It is part of Abbott’s “Beat Malnutrition” campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition in sports and health. The campaign spans 12 countries worldwide, including the United States.

How to Register?

Registrations are available online through the official website of the program or via Real Madrid and Abbott’s social media channels. Spots are limited, so interested players are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
