The UEFA Champions League quarter-final first legs continued in thrilling fashion on April 9, 2025, with two of Europe’s giants — Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona — delivering commanding performances.

PSG 3-1 Aston Villa

At the Parc des Princes, PSG faced a surprising Aston Villa side that struck first. Morgan Rogers opened the scoring for the visitors in the 35th minute, momentarily silencing the Paris crowd. But the response was immediate — Désiré Doué equalized just four minutes later (39’), injecting life back into the home side.

In the second half, Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave PSG the lead in the 49th minute with a classy finish. The match was sealed in added time when Nuno Mendes found the net (90+2’), giving PSG a strong 3-1 advantage heading into the second leg.

Barcelona 4-0 Borussia Dortmund

Meanwhile, in Barcelona, the Catalan club hosted Borussia Dortmund and completely dominated from start to finish. Brazilian winger Raphinha got things rolling with a goal in the 25th minute. Then came the Robert Lewandowski show — the former Dortmund striker scored twice (48’, 66’) against his old club, showing no mercy.

17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal capped off the night with a goal in the 77th minute, completing a perfect evening for Xavi’s men with a crushing 4-0 victory.

Other Quarter-Final First Legs

Elsewhere in the competition:

  • Arsenal stunned Real Madrid with a 3-0 win at home.
  • Inter Milan took a narrow 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich.
