Overview

Under the direction of the head coach and in accordance with the specific subunit responsibilities assigned to the assistant coach, the incumbent must ensure an environment that is consistent with the values of the University of Ottawa and that encourages the development of student-athletes in the program toward success and recognition at the conference and at U SPORTS. Primarily, these functions are:

In accordance with the plan developed by the head coach, ensuring the implementation, preparation and evaluation of annual competitive objectives, practice sessions and competition events for any assigned subunit within the team

.

Assist in conducting team meetings, video analysis, performance analysis, sports psychological support, team-building processes, academic monitoring and player evaluations.

Assist the head coach (or defensive soccer coordinator) to develop game strategies in preparation for each competition.

Assist the head coach in the development, organization and monitoring of off-season training and practices, as well as all training camps.

Identify recruits across Canada through an established network within the sports system and the high school and university system.

Develop a recruitment package and ensure ongoing communication with recruits and their families.

Organize and conduct campus visits when appropriate.

Establish links with the Sports Services Admissions and Accommodation representative, the University of Ottawa Liaison Office representative, and other university support as needed.

Assist in the development and implementation of a multi-year recruitment plan by evaluating the current list and evaluating future needs.

Coordinate program-specific fundraising initiatives allocated in accordance with guidelines established by the Service’s Marketing and Communications department.

Work with the Intramural Camps and Programs Manager to coordinate the implementation of the sport-specific summer Youth Camp program.

Help the Head Coach monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and coordinate academic support requirements, including liaising with faculty and academic advisors when appropriate.

Coordinate the participation of student athletes from the U SPORT Program in community outreach and campus promotions as assigned.

Assisi with the coordination of development and relationship activities with former students
